Restaurant DERBY in Bremen

Some time ago we went to the derby at the racecourse for the second time. Compared to the first time, the portions were reasonably priced and good this time. Afterwards everyone was full. The food also tasted good, but unfortunately the menu is quite narrow. Of course you don't expect 100 dishes, but you can expect more than 5. The same applies to dessert. They offer two types of ice cream, but only have one type left. What a shame. In general, the Derby currently looks rather loveless and without charm. Of course, Corona plays a role here and also the extinction of the horse racing track, but you could still make a little effort. A little table decoration, a candle or something similar to create a cozy atmosphere.

I can't understand the previous reviews with the basic tenor: Great staff, great ambience and extraordinary culinary delights, unfortunately not at all. In the "Derby" (Hotel Atlantic) we celebrated a birthday party that could hardly be surpassed in terms of sadness, so I would like to save other people from such disappointment through my rating. Down to business: The staff was not very attentive and accommodating. Although we found the restaurant very empty that evening (not even 1/3 of the tables were occupied), we were assigned an area, separate from the rest of the room, on a large separated area, where there was nothing more than a lonely row of tables with some chairs. When asked to join the group of seven, to be allowed to sit in the more comfortable guest room with niches and benches, we were told that the other seats were all reserved and that it would therefore not be possible to move. An hour and a half later, two thirds of the tables were still free ... Then we were asked directly about the drinks, whereupon we first asked for the menu because we wanted to make it dependent on the food. The drinks menu consisted of two black and white copies on A4 paper, the menu was so clear that it could not even fit on a page. I don't remember all of the dishes listed there, but what our table ordered: Veal schnitzel, falafel fries, beef steak (there was only one variant with a kind of paprika butter) and a fish dish (pikeperch I think). Because there were only two dishes for vegetarians and I don't particularly like falafel, I chose Caesar salad without chicken. Radler, Pinot Blanc, Burgundy red, malt beer and a bottle of water were ordered for drinks. Because it was a birthday party, we all wanted to toast together, of course, but that was a tedious process because only two glasses of white Burgundy were brought and the red Burgundy was forgotten. My beer was tapped two fingers below the 0.4 mark and almost without foam, which outraged my son, who is a trained brewer and knows everything about well-tapped beer. The request for salt and pepper was ignored, even though we made it quite loud. The dishes: The best thing was the greeting from the kitchen with delicious walnut and olive baguette plus olive paste and butter. Unfortunately, we concluded from this that qualitatively it would continue. The falafel fries were flavorful, but with a microscopic dollop of sauce on the plate, they stayed pretty dry. The portion was quite manageable. After all, this dish didn't taste bad. The steak was okay. O., there is no feedback from the fish. Unfortunately, what you can't say about the schnitzel is that it reminded my partner of his days at the university cafeteria, where schnitzel was parked on hot plates until they were dust-dry and rubbery. As for my choice, I could hardly have been wrong. The Caesar salad turned out to be an elongated plate with romaine lettuce leaves, on which some completely tasteless cherry tomatoes, next to sparsely distributed parmesan wedges, were bathed in a creamy cheese sauce. No croutons, no corn, cucumber or other vegetables, as is usual with Caesar salad. The bacon strips on the menu (which of course I would not have eaten as a vegetarian) were left out, but not replaced by anything else. In another restaurant, the cook served me with fried oyster mushrooms, which were a very tasty substitute. The amount of ingredients on my plate / platter was rather pathetic for € 9.50 and afterwards I had to eat my fill at home so as not to go to bed hungry. Last but not least, I would like to ask whether it is necessary to force several over 80-year-olds, some of whom are disabled, to fill in the corona data sheets with pencils in poor lighting conditions and while standing in the hall of the restaurant instead of sitting at the table take care of?

Nice atmosphere, good food and a friendly and dedicated team in the service. Always good!

Very chic restaurant. Also with some very tasty vegan dishes.

Super breakfast buffet. There is something for everybody. Fresh fruit, fresh rolls (no Aufbackbrötchen), special requests are fulfilled if possible and the service is first class. The location is beautifully bright with large window fronts and a view of the adjacent racecourse and golf course. We would love to come back.

After occasionally mixed results in previous years, we can now award the full score for both the food and the service. Applies to Twingle menus as well as the goose menu. However, lavishly calculated drink prices. Gr. Bottle of water € 6.90, glass of 0.1 sparkling wine € 4.80. No cocktails in the menu.

Very good food, very clean and modern restaurant with a view of the countryside. Good service and expensive.

Good lunch, reasonable prices, attentive service. Particularly noteworthy is the beautiful view of the racecourse and the golf course. Question is, how much longer?

Food was great! Twingelmenue cheap and always very good. With the service we were only once really dissatisfied. It was obviously a pretty green apprentice.

Good food you get here. When you sleep, you hear the road and traffic clearly, just because the street in front of the house in cobblestones changes. Better to take a room in the back house.

Really good food and a beautiful view of the racetrack. However, there's a star deduction, as the head waiter comes across again rude every time. This time, however, it was unheard of: Does he actually tell my girlfriend that the glass back of her cell phone, which had been broken by a dropped fork by the waiter, must have had cracks ("must have been a monster fork" "but one honestly: there were already cracks in it ?! ") What are you hoping for something like that ??

Great cuisine and very friendly, professional service. Suitable for the very good Hotel Atlantic. Can absolutely recommend both.

Fine 4 star hotel (who needs it). But regardless of that, you can experience a great restaurant with changing dishes and delicious food. Especially the twin offer lets me become a customer in derby again and again. Our favorite restaurant!
